On the occasion of the inauguration of a point of sale from the producer to the consumer this Sunday, May 11, 2025, on Avenue Habib Bourguiba in Tunis, the Minister of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Maritime Fisheries, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, announced that the fixing of sheep prices for Eid Al Idhha will be ensured directly by its department.
This announcement comes within the framework of the celebration of the National Day of Agriculture and an assertive desire to limit speculation and guarantee the accessibility of agricultural products, especially sheep, during this sensitive period.
We can understand that prices will be set in coordination with the various stakeholders in the sector, so that they are both reasonable for consumers and fairness for breeders.
The Minister also wanted to reassure that the sacrifice sheep will be available in sufficient quantities, and the prices applied in points of sale will be “preferential and accessible”.
