Tunis and Cairo strengthen their diplomatic coordination

On the sidelines of his participation in the 34ᵉ Arab Summit scheduled for Baghdad on May 17, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, met on Thursday May 15, his Egyptian counterpart Dr Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptians abroad.

The meeting was an opportunity to review the state of bilateral relations between Tunisia and Egypt. The head of Tunisian diplomacy has welcomed the positive dynamics that the links between the two countries, expressing Tunis’ desire to further strengthen cooperation in all areas. He notably insisted on the need to raise economic, commercial and investment in the political relations deemed excellent between the two capitals.

The Egyptian minister, for his part, reaffirmed Cairo’s commitment to concretize the projects agreed during previous bilateral meetings. He also underlined the importance of exploiting existing opportunities to advance priority economic sectors and to strengthen coordination upstream of the next regional deadlines.

Beyond the bilateral framework, the two ministers mentioned the main regional issues, starting with the situation in Palestine. They have renewed their support for cease-fire efforts in the Gaza Strip, denouncing violence against Palestinian civilians and calling for the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The Libyan crisis was also discussed. Tunis and Cairo warned against any escalation likely to hinder the current political process and pleaded for a concerted approach in order to preserve the stability of the neighboring country.
