On the sidelines of the preparations for the 34ᵉ Arab Summit, scheduled for Baghdad this Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Ali Nafti, held a bilateral interview with his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf this Friday. The situation in Libya has occupied a central place in discussions between the two diplomats.

The heads of Tunisian and Algerian diplomacies expressed a convergence of views on the need to relaunch a process of inter-Libyan dialogue under the aegis of the United Nations, far from any foreign interference. They called to put an end to violence, believing that only an inclusive political solution can guarantee the lasting stability of the neighboring country.

In addition to the Libyan issue, the meeting also enabled both parties to approach the major items on the agenda of the Arab Summit, in particular the resolutions projects that will be adopted during this session.

Bilateral cooperation has also been discussed in depth. Tunis and Algiers have reaffirmed their desire to strengthen their strategic partnership, in particular in the fields of interregional trade, investment, energy, industry, as well as in the integrated development of border regions.
