The Administrative Council of the Regional Labor Union in Sfax officially requested, this Friday, May 16, 2025, the Department of Internal Regulation of the Tunisian Labor Union (UGTT), to translate the secretary general of the organization, Noureddine Taboubi, before the National Commission for Internal Regulations and immediately suspend it from any union activity.
This decision, indicates a press release published at the end of the meeting held yesterday at the regional union headquarters in Sfax, is motivated by “violations of the union charter, damage to the unity of the organization, attempts to divide its ranks, damage to the reputation and the dignity of its leaders”, referring to articles 133, 136 and 138 of the internal regulations of the organization. According to the same press release, 57 members out of a total of 62 voted in favor of this decision, two abstained and three were absent, reports the Mosaique FM radio.
The Regional Council also holds Noureddine Taboubi and certain members of the National Executive Office for the internal situation “marked by disintegration, tension, exclusion, marginalization and division policies”, which it attributes to the current management of the secretary general.
The cloth has been burning since last January and the case of leaked telephone recording and awarded to Noureddine Taboubi, this recording, in which Taboubi would have qualified the regional “mafia” Labor Union of Labor, had aroused a wave of criticism against the union leader, and pushed several parts, including members of the union base, to request its immediate resignation.
