The National Institute of Meteorology (INM) announces a significant increase in temperatures in Tunisia from Sunday, May 18, 2025.
This increase, which can reach up to 10 ° C compared to the values recorded on Friday May 16, is attributed to the installation of an anticyclone accompanied by dry winds from the south.
The regions of the north and the center of the country will be mainly affected by this heat wave, while winds will blow over the south. This weather situation is characterized by a mass of hot and dry air, resulting in a significant increase in daytime temperatures.
The anticyclone responsible for this heat wave is associated with a subsidence of the air, a descending movement which causes warming and a drying up of the atmosphere. This phenomenon inhibits the formation of clouds, thus promoting a clear sky and high temperatures.
The meteorological authorities recommend that citizens take the necessary precautions to deal with this heat wave.
