A man affiliated with the Daesh terrorist organization was sentenced to 48 years in prison by the criminal chamber specializing in terrorism affairs at the Tunis court of first instance.
This is what Diwan FM reported, citing a judicial source, this Friday, May 16, 2025.
The defendant had specialized in making toxic substances and craft explosives. The authorities confirmed that he was preparing attacks in both Tunisia and abroad, without however revealing the exact targets.
The investigation made it possible to establish that his brother had joined the ranks of Al-Qaeda, while he himself was in direct contact with Daesh executives based in Syria. The latter had provided him with training equipment, including videos showing the manufacturing processes of chemicals and explosives.
The file has highlighted the extent of its indoctrination and its projects, as well as the advanced level of preparation of its terrorist activities, which has led justice to pronounce one of the heaviest penalties rendered in recent years as part of the fight against terrorism in Tunisia.
