On May 17, 2025, on the occasion of the 78ᵉ World Health Assembly in Geneva, the Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, took part in a high -level meeting organized by the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Africa).
This meeting, devoted to health financing in Africa, brought together several African ministers and international partners such as Gavi and the Global Fund.
In his intervention, Mustapha Ferjani called for a common and pragmatic vision to strengthen the health autonomy of the continent. He stressed the importance of reviewing priorities according to local realities and building a health system based on African capacities, in accordance with the orientation of President Kaïs Saïed in favor of health and pharmaceutical sovereignty.
The Minister presented a Tunisian approach centered on three axes: adapting health priorities to real epidemiological challenges, directing public purchases for essential drugs, and supporting united, public and private investment.
He also proposed three concrete measures to modernize African health systems: create an African health solidarity fund, set up regional innovation centers, and integrate telemedicine thanks to digital and artificial intelligence, in particular in isolated areas.
