Date export revenues decreasing 4.3%

Revenues from exports of Tunisian date dates recorded a 4.3% drop in the first seven months of the 2024/2025 campaign, reaching 687.1 million dinars against 717.7 million for the same period of the previous campaign, according to the latest statistics published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI).

Price evolution

Between October 2024 and at the end of April 2025, Tunisia exported 107.9 thousand tonnes of dates, against 114.7 thousand tonnes over the same period in 2023/2024, a drop of 6%. The flagship variety “Deglet Ennour” continues to dominate exports, representing 85.4% of the total volume.

The average price of exported dates established 6.37 dinars per kilo during this period. The variety “Deglet Ennour” has sold on average at 7 D/kg. For the month of April 2025 alone, the average price of dates reached 5.95 D/kg, up 4.1% compared to April 2024.

Main destinations: Morocco in mind

The European Union remains the first destination for Tunisian dates, absorbing 41.4%of the total exported volume, followed by Africa (26%) and Asia (21.6%). Morocco remains the main customer of Tunisia with 20.7%of the volumes exported, followed by Italy (11%) and France (8.2%).

The exports of organic dates reached, at the end of April 2025, a volume of 5.4 thousand tonnes for a value of 48.9 million dinars. Although the volume increased slightly by 0.4% compared to the previous year, the revenues dropped by 21.6%. The share of organic dates remains low, representing less than 5% of total exports.

Germany remains the first destination for Tunisian organic dates, representing 30% of exports in this segment. It is followed by the Netherlands (14%) and France (10%).
