The President of the Tunisian Republic, Kaïs Saïed, received on Wednesday May 21 at the Palais de Carthage two young citizens: Walid Jedd, from the Mazzouna delegation (governorate of Sidi Bouzid), and Wissam Mejri, of the city of Bizerte. This meeting is part of a series of direct exchanges between the head of state and citizens.
According to a press release from the presidency, Kaïs Saïed stressed the social role of the State and affirmed that the solutions emanating from the people, through their institutions, will be implemented.
The president insisted on the ability of youth, carried by a strong patriotic spirit, to assume his responsibilities and to replace those which slow down the proper functioning of institutions. “It is the arms and minds of the free patriots that forge history, epics and glory,” he said.
In a video published on the official page of the presidency, he said that Tunisia today was carrying out a real national liberation war on several fronts and in all regions, aimed at rebuilding essential public services long marginalized or destroyed.
Kaïs Saïed said that his regional visits have no media or symbolic aim, but must result in immediate measures that meet the expectations of citizens.
He also said that the battle for change is not limited to the fight against corruption. It also aims, according to him, to face networks operating in the shadows, inside and outside the country, which lead to denigration campaigns organized via dubious and funded Facebook pages.
“I do not give any importance to these campaigns or those that history has already rejected,” he said.
By exchanging with the two young guests, the Head of State unveiled several measures planned for the Mazzouna and Bizerte regions, following his field visits and direct exchanges with the inhabitants. He said that the aim of these meetings is not to produce images, but results, announcing urgent decisions concerning the employment of young graduates, regional development and the revival of unanswered projects, such as that of the sugar factory in Bizerte.
