The United States Embassy in Tunis announced the opening of candidacies for the Fulbright program for foreign students for the university year 2026-2027.
In a statement published yesterday, the embassy specifies that this program offers master’s students, young professionals at the start of their career and Tunisian artists the opportunity to pursue master studies or conduct doctoral research in the United States.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, a monthly allowance for housing and subsistence costs, as well as travel costs and health insurance. Applications are accepted until June 15, 2025.
The program is open to most disciplines: human sciences, social sciences, natural sciences, technology and engineering. However, clinical component specialties such as medicine and nursing are not eligible.
Selection criteria
Applicants will be selected as part of an open competition, based on their leadership potential, their academic excellence and their ability to adapt to life in the United States.

According to the press release, the candidate must:
Be a Tunisian citizen (without double American nationality or permanent resident status in the United States)
Reside in Tunisia throughout the application, selection, appointment and university admission process
Master English or be ready to follow an intensive English program (LTE) before the start of studies
Show an interest in American history and society and be willing to share Tunisian culture
For candidates for the Master: have a good academic file and a diploma equivalent to an American Bachelor
For doctoral students: being already involved in their thesis and having the required academic qualifications
Beneficiaries of the Fulbright program must return to their country or region of origin for a minimum duration of two years after the end of their studies.

The Fulbright program for foreign students
For more than 75 years, the Fulbright program has enabled students, from various routes, to study, to teach, to carry out research, to exchange ideas and to find solutions to major international issues. Since 1970, more than 230 Tunisians have participated in the program.
