The criminal chamber specializing in financial corruption affairs at the Tunis court of first instance sentenced a former president of the Union of publishers to one year in prison, accompanied by financial fines, for economic offenses. A second defendant also received the same penalty in this case.
The facts alleged against the two men fall under the exploitation of the public service for personal purposes, with damages caused to the administration. They were prosecuted for having unduly taken advantage of their position, thus violating the principles of good governance and integrity, reports Mosaique FM.
The specialized accusation chamber of the Tunis Court of Appeal had previously decided their referral to the court of first instance, while maintaining them in provisional freedom.
