The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) has launched a new call to its subscribers concerned by the automatic re -engagement of their debts, inviting them to pay their invoices as soon as possible to avoid any coercive measure.
Since last February, the STEG has implemented an automatic re -engagement procedure which has affected nearly two million customers, whose unpaid people have accumulated more than 700 million dinars. This initiative aims to facilitate the progressive regulations of debts, but it is also based on the commitment of users to respect the deadlines.
The Director of Recovery, Fathi Khalfaoui, stressed that the lack of payment could lead to legal proceedings or to the power outage of electricity. He urged the customers concerned to put himself in good standing in order to avoid these consequences.
