The French group Safran, a major world player in the aeronautical industry, studies the possibility of expanding its activities in Tunisia and increasing the local integration rate of its products. This was said by Philippe Errera, director responsible for international relations of the group, on a working visit to Tunis.

During a meeting on Tuesday, with the Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh on Tuesday, Erre will praised the advances produced by Safran in Tunisia in recent years, evoking the prospects for development in several strategic areas, including research, innovation and transition to a more environmentally friendly industry.

The French official said he was “satisfied” with the Tunisian environment, highlighting the quality of human resources and the availability of highly qualified engineers, which constitute an important lever for the group’s industrial ambitions in the country.

The Minister of the Economy, for his part, reaffirmed the support of the Tunisian state to Safran projects. He underlined the commitment of national institutions to support the group in the implementation of its new programs, recalling that aeronautics is among the priority sectors of the national investment strategy.

Safran is today a key player in the Tunisian industrial fabric in the aeronautical field. The company employs around 3,500 people on its three sites located in Grombalia, Soliman and Dhari, including some 700 engineers. These sites produce a wide range of components for civil aviation and helicopters, intended for major international orders in the sector.
