Tunisia and Italy strengthen their cooperation in the tourism and hotel sector. A joint program is being developed to train and insert young Tunisians into Italian companies in the sector, in response to a growing demand for specialized skills.

Tunisia and Italy are moving towards a new partnership in the field of employment and vocational training, with the aim of meeting the needs of the Italian tourism market, hotel and catering in Tunisian specialized skills.

This is what emerges from a meeting held on Tuesday in Tunis, between the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Riadh Chaoued, and a delegation from the Italian Tourism and Hotel Federation, led by its Director General Roberto Calogi, in the presence of the Italian ambassador to Tunis, Alessandro PRNAS.

At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to develop a Tunisian-Italian cooperation program for the training of young Tunisians in the tourism, hotel and catering professions, in line with the needs expressed by Italian companies.

An agreement has also been concluded to lay the foundations for a future framework cooperation agreement. This will aim to define the skills sought by Italian professionals, as well as the mechanisms of training, evaluation and integration of Tunisian profiles on the Italian market.

Minister Riadh Chaoued welcomed this approach as a new opportunity to enhance Tunisian human resources and strengthen legal and supervised mobility towards Europe. He insisted on the importance of capitalizing on the achievements of previous joint programs to build a sustainable cooperation framework.

For his part, Roberto Calogi presented a map of the needs of the Italian economic fabric, highlighting a strong demand for qualified personnel in the reception, service, cooking and hotel management sectors.

The Italian ambassador, for his part, expressed his attachment to this “exemplary” cooperation which benefits both the Italian economy and to young Tunisians wishing to train and work in supervised conditions.
