The Brazilian aeronautical manufacturer Embraer, the third world player in the sector, plans to set up in Tunisia permanently. The company expressed its intention to join the Tunisian industrial ecosystem through a direct establishment, according to a press release published on Saturday by FIPA-Tunisia, the external investment promotion agency.
A high -level delegation of Embraer, led by the Marketing Director Theo Wensink, was received on May 29 at FIPA headquarters in Tunis, in the presence of the Brazil ambassador, Fernando José Marroni de Abreu. This visit was part of a commercial mission orchestrated by the Brazilian trade development agency (Apexbrasil).
During this meeting, the Brazilian giant presented its expertise in aeronautical construction and asserted its strategic interest in Tunisia, both for the development of the national air fleet and for the investment in the manufacture of aircraft, the supply of spare parts, training and transfer of skills.
For his part, Jalel Tebib, CEO of FIPA-Tunisia, highlighted the country’s competitive assets in the aeronautical sector, citing in particular the manufacture of structures, the machining of precision, the work of sheet metal and the production of composite materials. He stressed that Tunisia remains a destination of choice for international investors in the sector.
The discussions between Embraer and the Tunisian authorities will continue in the coming weeks. FIPA is committed to supporting this strategic project at each stage, in order to guarantee the best conditions for its establishment.
In parallel to this visit, a Tuniso-Brazilian business meeting was organized on May 29 at UTICA headquarters in Tunis. It brought together a large delegation of Brazilian businessmen, operating in various sectors, as part of the business mission from May 29 to 30. This initiative is the fruit of a partnership between the Tunisian Ministry of Trade and Development of Exports, UTICA, the Tunisia Embassy in Brazil and Apexbrasil.
Embraer, founded in 1969, is today the main manufacturer of small and medium capacity planes. Its devices are used by many regional airlines worldwide, making it a weight player in civil aeronautics.
