The President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, received on Tuesday an official invitation from his Tunisian counterpart Kais Saied to make a visit to Tunisia during 2025. This approach, carried by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Ali Nafti during a working visit to Helsinki, is part of a clear desire to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

According to an official statement, the Tunisian diplomacy chief sent Tunisia to establish a tradition of regular political consultation to the Finnish president, both bilaterally and in the context of relations with the European Union. This orientation reflects a desire to give new impetus to the political and diplomatic dialogue between Tunis and Helsinki.

During his interview with the Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Nafti spoke of the concrete avenues for cooperation in several areas. The holding of the Tuniso-Finnish economic forum has also constituted a platform conducive to fruitful exchanges between the economic actors of the two countries, laying the foundations for a more structured economic partnership.

President Stubb welcomed this diplomatic initiative and expressed his interest in an official visit to Tunisia. He stressed the importance of the relationships between the two states, emphasizing the opportunities available to consolidate them in a framework of mutual respect and shared interest. He also recognized the role of Tunisia as a key partner in the stability of the Euro-Mediterranean and African region.

On the multilateral level, the two parties expressed their desire to strengthen their cooperation in international enclosures, particularly within the framework of the United Nations. They reaffirmed common positions on several files, including the Palestinian question, defending the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with al-Quds for capital.

This diplomatic dynamic thus opens the way to a deepening of the Tuniso-Finnish partnership, based on political dialogue, economic cooperation and a shared commitment for regional peace and stability.
