The Tunisian government announced this Wednesday, June 4, 2025 on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, through a joint decision between the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Public Health, the granting of an exceptional premium of 2,000 dinars per month to young people assigned to national service in public health structures.
In addition to this monthly compensation, the management by the Ministry of Health of Payment for the Contribution relating to Social Coverage has also been decided.
The organization of young doctors praised this measure, seeing it as a first response to the claims brought for several months. In a statement, she described this decision as “beginning of interaction” on the part of the ministry of tutelage with the complaints deemed “legitimate” of young doctors.
However, the organization has not failed to emphasize that several points of discord remain unanswered, in particular the derisory – or even non -existent remuneration – of hours of guard, which oscillate between 1 and 3 dinars per hour, as well as the low level of monthly wages, always without concrete exit to date.
In the absence of structural responses, the organization maintains its general strike notice of five days in hospitals, scheduled for June 12, 2025. It also threatens to boycott internships from July 1. Measures which, if applied, could worsen the hospital crisis and accelerate the exodus of doctors.
