The 2025 tourist season promises to be promising for Tunisia. According to the statements of the director general of the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT), Mohamed Mehdi Houas, the country has already welcomed more than 3.4 million tourists between January and late May. This figure marks a notable increase of 10.2 % compared to the same period in 2024.
“If we maintain this growth rate, we can reasonably hope to achieve our goal of 11 million visitors this year,” said Houas, being optimistic about the current dynamics. He underlines that this positive trend confirms the relevance of the efforts made to revitalize the sector.
The manager also insists on the desire not to be limited to a logic of volume. “We bet both on quantity and quality. A work is underway to strengthen the quality of services in Tunisian hotels and improve all of the tourism experience, ”he told Mosaique.
Economically, the benefits are also encouraging. In 2024, tourist revenues had reached 7.5 billion dinars. This year, with the prospect of the 11 million visitors, income could exceed 8 billion dinars.
This embellishment of the tourism sector reflects a global strategy focused on the continuous improvement of the offer, the revival of services, and the attractiveness of the country on international markets. The summer season, which starts in force, could well allow Tunisia to break new records.
