Tunisia: general strike in land transport confirmed from tomorrow
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The General Federation of Transport relating to the UGTT confirmed on Tuesday its decision to maintain a general sectoral strike in the land transport of travelers. Scheduled for three days – on July 30 and 31 and August 1, 2025 – This strike will concern the National Interurban Transport Company (SNTRI), the Tunis transport company (TransTU), as well as all regional road transport companies.

In a declaration, the secretary general of the Federation, Wajih Ezzidi, justified this decision by the failure of the negotiation session held today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Social Affairs. He pointed out the “stubbornness” of the government party and “the absence of seriousness” in the treatment of the claims of agents in the sector.

This strike promises to be particularly disruptive, at the heart of the summer season, while public transport needs intensify throughout the country. The union claims to remain open to dialogue, but denounces the lack of concrete commitment from the authorities, in particular with regard to the working conditions, wages and the financial situation of public enterprises in the sector.
