The joint control services, in coordination with the national body for the health security of food products, recently seized more than 100,000 bottles of mineral water from different capacities, deemed not in accordance with the standards in force. The information was confirmed this Monday, August 4, 2025 by the president of the body, Mohamed Rabhi.
Inity on national radio waves, Rabhi said that all the water brands sold on the Tunisian market have a health certificate issued by the body, following laboratory analyzes. He nevertheless recalled that the bottled water has a expiration date to be respected.
According to him, the main failures concern the conditions of transport, storage and presentation of products. “The water should be stored in a clean, fresh, well-ventilated place and sheltered from the sun’s rays,” he insisted.
The official stressed that offenses are frequently noted at this level, compromising the quality of the products intended for consumption.
Sanctions in the event of non-compliance with standards may be heavy: seizure and destruction of products, institution of minutes, substantial fines, even prison terms.
This seizure campaign aims to strengthen the health security of Tunisian consumers, especially in summer when mineral water consumption increases significantly.
