The latest report by the National Road Safety Observatory highlights a disturbing trend: the number of deaths related to road accidents in Tunisia increased by 9.13 % from the start of the year until August 7, 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.
The data show that men constitute the overwhelming majority of victims : almost 86 %, against 13.79 % for women. Young people and adults aged 18 to 59 are the most affected. Since the start of the year, 458 people From this age group have lost their lives in road accidents.
The observatory also points out five particularly dangerous areas. They are located in the governorates of Ariana, Manouba, Ben Arous and Sfax. The national roads n ° 1 and n ° 14 record there the greatest number of accidents.
These figures confirm the urgency of intensifying prevention and improving road safety.
