The Ministry of Finance announced the generalization of the electronic travel stamp, required when leaving Tunisian territory. Now available online, this device aims to simplify procedures, reduce bureaucracy and improve transparency of operations.
Since October 2023, Tunisian and resident travelers have to pay the exit tax, set at 60 dinars, via the official platform e-tistres.finances.gov.tn.
Once the payment is made, a single 16-digit identifier is generated and sent by SMS or E-mail. This code, valid for six months, takes the place of proof of border posts.
The digital stamp gradually replaces the paper stamp, long sold at airports or finance revenues. This transition puts an end to the queues and frequent stock breaks during periods of strong crowds.
The Ministry of Finance highlights a measure of simplification and modernization. The authorities also insist on interconnection with the border police, which makes it possible to verify the authenticity of each stamp in real time.
The reform of the travel stamp is part of a wider strategy of dematerialization of public services. The same platform already offers other electronic stamps: registration for national competitions, school exams or passport requests. All can be purchased online via bank card or postal card.
