This Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the mayor of Yokohama, Takeharu Yamanaka, received the head of the government, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, at the city center. The official delegation which accompanied him was also present.
During the meeting, the government’s heading congratulated Yokohama for the organization of the forum. She recalled the historical ties between Tunisia and Japan, which have been lasting for almost seventy years. She also insisted on the importance of strengthening cooperation in several areas.
Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri offered a twinning between Yokohama and a Tunisian city. The two countries will study this idea according to different criteria. She also suggested organizing, in 2026, a Tunisian-Japanese economic forum to present investment and partnership opportunities in Tunisia.
Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka expressed his satisfaction at welcoming the Tunisian delegation. He wishes to strengthen cooperation, particularly in port management and digitization.
This meeting shows that Tunisia and Japan want to strengthen their links and create new economic and technical opportunities.
