On the sidelines of the 9ᵉ Tokyo International Conference on Development in Africa (TICAD), held in Yokohama, the Sarra Government Chef Zaafrani Zenzri met the president of the Japanese Association for the Economy and Development in Africa (AFRECO), Tetsuro Yano, as well as several representatives of large Japanese companies, including Toyota Tsusho and Keizai Doykai.
The meeting took place in the presence of the Tunisia ambassador to Japan, Ahmed Chafra, and senior officials of the Presidency of the Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Raise administrative and logistical obstacles
Ms. Zaafrani Zenzri presented the investment opportunities that Tunisia offers, highlighting the priority and strategic sectors. It insisted on the will of the Tunisian government to remove the administrative and logistical obstacles that could slow down foreign investors.
The government’s heading has launched a direct call to the Japanese private sector and large groups to invest in Tunisia, while encouraging companies already established to expand their activities.
Representatives of Japanese companies present expressed their satisfaction with the business climate in Tunisia and have reaffirmed their interest in strengthening their investments, stressing that the country remains a promising destination for them.
Confirmed interest in Japan
Tunisia and Japan maintain economic cooperation marked by development projects and investments in different sectors. The Ticad, a major meeting for Africa and its Asian partners, constitutes a showcase for Tunisia to attract more Japanese investments.
