A second death in the coronavirus was announced this Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Italy by the Ansa agency. The victim is a woman in the Lombardy region. She had been hospitalized for ten days and succumbed to viral pneumonia.
This death occurs less than 24 hours after a first death in Italy of a 78-year-old man, hospitalized for another disease and infected with the COVID-19. This first death of a European affected by the virus, recorded in Veneto, has caused a panic since yesterday in eleven cities in northern Italy and led to the closure of public places, especially after the census of 20 cases of contamination in this country which thus becomes the most affected in Europe.
More than two months after the appearance of the virus in Wuhan, in the Chinese province of Hubei, the epidemic is still not circumscribed. According to the WHO, the virus has already contaminated more than 76,000 people in China and 1,100 elsewhere in the world, and caused more than 2,345 dead.
