Mandatory masks efficiency: unconvinced WHO
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

While several countries, including Tunisia, have made it compulsory, after deconfination, the wearing of masks or protective drools, the World Health Organization is not very convinced by the usefulness of this measure.

Indeed, during a meeting by videoconference held yesterday Monday, April 7, the WHO was skeptical in the face of these decisions, especially since the wearing of these masks will not have guaranteed and considerable effects on the spread of contamination.

“What is clear is that we know little about this subject. We encourage countries that consider the generalization of wearing the mask to study its effectiveness so that we can all learn from this. There is no binary response, no miracle solution. Masks alone cannot curb the pandemic of COVVI-19 ″, launched in this direction Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director of the WHO.

For the WHO, at this stage, the stocks of masks should above all be reserved for caregivers who are first
line of defense and certain risky situations.

During the plenary devoted to the examination of the bill relating to the delegation of legislative power to the head of government, on April 4, the Minister of Health Abdeltif Mekki, declared that all Tunisians will have to wear a protective mask after the period of health containment.

“The return to normal life will not be easy after health confinement,” he said, reporting that wearing protective masks will be compulsory, adding that the single-use mask is not recommended after total containment. “
