The World Health Organization (WHO) announced yesterday April 17, a sharp increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus in Africa, yesterday, April 17, when the world has crossed the two million experienced case.

“Last week, there was a 51% increase in the number of cases reported on my own continent, Africa, and a 60% increase in the number of reports reported,” said WHO director, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, at a press conference organized virtually from Geneva.

“With the current challenge of obtaining test kits, it is likely that the real figures are higher than those indicated,” he continued, Dr. Tedros, originally from Ethiopia.

The African Region had on the date yesterday, Friday April 17, more than 12,360 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
