The Tenniswoman Ons Jabeur (3rd in the world) has decided to withdraw from the Eastbourne tournament in simple. A withdrawal justified by an intense week spent in Berlin, where Ons Jabeur won the WTA 500 tournament last Sunday.
Ons Jabeur was to face today, the American Shelby Rogers, but decided to withdraw from the main draw. On the other hand, remains in the double table with Serena Williams.
“I decided to withdraw from the simple table and focus on the double this week (…) I don’t want to make the same mistake that I made at Roland-Garros, I feel good (…) I learned from the past and I try to be ready for Wimbledon,” said Jabeur.
“I know how to keep the secrets, I was aware since Roland-Garros,” the Tunisian told the TAP agency, still stunned that Serena Williams chose her as a partner, and who did not hesitate “a second” before accepting.
Ons Jabeur and Serena Williams will play double the Eastbourne tournament together, this Tuesday, June 21 against the pair made up of the Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (42nd WTA) and the Czech Marie Bouzková (64th in the world), before participating in the 2022 edition of Wimbledon.
Serena Williams who was absent from the last three Grands Chelem obtained a Wild-Card to participate in the double women of this WTA 500 tournament organized in southern England.
