An Italian operation to combat irregular migration, “Scorpion Fish”, had made it possible to dismantle in 2017 a network which organized luxury trips intended for irregular migrants between Cape Bon and the east coast of Sicily aboard quick stars.
These stars had left for a small tourist port of Sappusi, in the suburbs of Marsala and won Cap Bon. From there, trips to the east coast of Sicily Staiet organized at the rate of 3000 euros per person. These little risky crossings were used to transport small groups of migrants. Arrived in Italy, the latter were taken care of.
Twelve people had been arrested during the “Scorpion Fish” operation and six of which three Tunisians and three Italians had been sentenced to prison terms during a trial on December 20, 2018, the other six had been paid.
The Iythalian justice has just confirmed the sentences of prison on appeal to which the six convicted accused were sentenced.
They are Jabranne Ben Cheikh, 30, alleged chief of the criminal organization and Chiheb Hamrouni, 28, both sentenced to a sentence of seven years and four months in prison. Tarek Ben Massoud, 32, received a sentence of six years and eight months in prison.
The same sentence was inflicted on the two brothers of Marsala, Salvatore Algragra, 56, and Angelo Alleggra, 50, while Simonetta Sodi, 58 and partner of Ben Cheikh, was sentenced to three years and four months.
