India is in shock and dismay is at its height! In a village in the state of Kerala (south), an elephant pregnant was killed by a fruit that had been trapped with firecrackers.

The wild elephant had ventured on May 27 in a village in the state of Kerala (south), where it ate the fruit filled with firecrackers, which exploded in mouth. The technique is regularly used to scare wild animals which are too close to villages and cultures in India.

After several hours of agony, the 15 -year -old elephant succumbed to his injuries in a river.

The authorities investigate to determine the exact circumstances of the death of the elephant and the central government promised to “neglect any track” to find the people behind this act.

This Friday, June 5, 2020, Indian police arrested a man accused of having caused the death of the pachyderm. An investigation was opened to find out if it is a poacher or a farmer who wanted to kill the elephant to prevent him from damaging his cultures.

Between 214 and 2019, around 2,361 people died in elephant attacks in the Southern Asian country while 510 elephants were killed by men, including 333 electrocution.
