Tunisia concerned, the EU fixes a date to reopen its borders

Tunisia is certainly concerned by this decision since it aims to seduce certain European markets to relaunch its tourism. This Wednesday, June 10, the European Commission announced that it will publish its proposals in the week for a “progressive and partial” lifting of the restrictions of travel to the external borders of the EU and this from July 1.

Quoted by the AFP agency, the vice-president of the said commission Josep Borrell, explained in the sense that it would be to lift restrictions with certain third countries by taking into account a certain number of principles and criteria and based on a common approach between member states “.

In order to relaunch its economy, Tunisia had announced the opening of land, air and sea borders from June 27. A decision that comes in order to relaunch the tourism sector widely impacted by the crisis.
Recently, the Minister of Crafts and Tourism, Mohamed Ali Toumi explained that this will be done in a partial and progressive way, that is to say according to the epidemiological situation in other countries. “We will not be called upon to open our borders to high-risk countries,” he noted.

The head of government had announced that Tunisia hopes for a resumption of tourism activity at the beginning of July taking into account the advancement of the epidemiological situation. But according to the Minister of Tourism Mohamed Ali Toumi, the takeover will be ensured in a first stage by local tourists, then tourists from neighboring countries, including in particular Algeria
