Egyptian deputies have just approved, on Monday, July 20, a possible armed intervention in Libya if the forces of the Tripoli government continue their progress to the east.
Egypt could send soldiers for “combat missions outside the borders” in order to “defend Egyptian national security”, said Parliament in a statement, quoted by several press agencies.
A few days ago, the Libyan Parliament had announced its agreement for an Egyptian military intervention “in the light of Turkish interference and the violation of the sovereignty of Libya with the blessing of armed militias”.
The Tobrouk Parliament had called on the Egyptian armed forces to intervene to protect Libyan and Egyptian national security, if it sees an imminent danger that can affect the two countries.
