Welcomed with great fanfare yesterday, at the Carthage municipal theater during a ceremony organized in his honor by Tunisie Telecom, Ons Jabeur, in the fire of action, aroused a small controversy.
Addressing the crowd who came to acclaim him, the tenniswoman addressed them by declaring that it was necessary to follow what is written on a sign raised by one of his fans, and on which he was written “yes”.
Social networks immediately seized Ons Jabeur’s message to change it as a support message to the President of the Republic, Kais Saied a few days before the July 25 referendum.
Faced with the controversy and in order to silence the bad tongues, ons Jabeur hastened to put a video online to submit his declaration in his context.
And to explain that the “yes” means, for her, “Yes We Can” in order to push young people to always believe in their objectives and their dreams, denying any political message, adding that it remains away from politics.
“It is a great” yes “to encourage youth to realize their dreams. It is not a political “yes”. I am a sportswoman, I do not do politics, ”she wanted to rectify her Facebook page.
A tribute ceremony to our tennis champion, Wimbledon finalist, was organized by Tunisie Telecom yesterday at the Tunis Municipal Theater in the presence of a large number of representatives of different media, photographers and guests.
Ons Jabeur was warmly welcomed and it was with the slogans “celebrate” and “tounès maâ ons” (“tunisia with ons”) displayed on the big screen that our national pride presented his silver tray, the “Venus Roswater Dish”.
After which, Ons Jabeur presented himself on the balcony of the municipal theater to greet the general public who awaited him on Avenue Habib Bourguiba for the Ovation.
