The researcher of Tunisian origin, Moungi Bawendi, candidate for the Nobel Prize in chemistry

The announcement of the Nobel Prize winner of chemistry will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

Among this year’s candidates, Professor Moungi Bawendi, Tunisian-American researcher and academic at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Professor Bawendi is a candidate alongside the Korean chemist Hyeon Taeg-Hwan and the American researcher at the University of Pennsylvania Christopher Murray.

A graduate of the University of Harvard in 1982 and then of the University of Chicago in 1988, he focused on the science and applications of nanocrystals, in particular semiconductor nanocrystals.

Bawendi is one of the first participants in the field of colloidal quantum points, and among the most cited chemists of the last decade

Due to the COVVI-19 pandemic, the Nobel Prize award ceremony will not take place this year. Instead, videos of winners receiving prices in their country of origin will be broadcast on television.
