The Pfizer (United States) and BionTech (Germany) laboratories announced, this Monday, November 9, 2020, that the vaccine they are developing is 90% “to prevent COVID-19.
The announcement of the two laboratories would be based on the large scale 3 trial in progress, last step before a request for approval.
“Patient protection was obtained seven days after the second of the two doses and 28 days after the first, according to the preliminary results” announced by Pfizer and Biontech.
“More than eight months after the start of the pandemic, we believe that this step represents a significant step for the world in our battle against the COVVI-19,” said Pfizer Chairman, Albert Bourla, in a statement.
According to him, the first results of the tamper of the vaccine in phase 3 provides “the initial proof of the capacity of our vaccine to prevent COVID-19”.
On another level, the two laboratories said they planned to provide up to 50 million doses of vaccines worldwide in 2020 and up to 1.3 billion doses in 2021.
