82% of doses already bought by rich countries!

Only two days after the announcement of the Pfizer pharmaceutical giant of the positive results of its trial of vaccine against the coronavirus, 82% of the doses have already been purchased by rich countries.

These massive vaccine purchases thus leave more than 85% of the world’s population without access to doses.

Pfizer had previously ensured its ability to produce 1.35 billion doses of the 90% effective vaccine in prevention of contamination in patients who have never contracted the virus by the end of 2021.

But in two days, one billion of these doses, or 82% of the offer, have already been purchased by rich countries like the United States, the United Kingdom or the European Union (EU).
It is explained that the United States has for example bought 100 million doses with a purchase option of 500 million, a sufficient amount to potentially immunize its entire population against the coronavirus, with hundreds of millions of remaining doses.

Similarly, since Monday, Pfizer has sold 40 million doses in the United Kingdom and 200 million doses in the EU, with an option to buy an additional 100 million doses.
