In France, the former President of the Republic risks 4 years in prison in the case of “listening”.
The national financial prosecutor’s office requested against him four years in prison, two of which were suspended this Tuesday, December 8, 2020. He was tried for corruption and influence traffic in the so -called “listening” case.
The accusation requested the same penalties for the other two defendants in this case: the former high magistrate Gilbert Azibert, as well as for Thierry Herzog, historic lawyer of the ex-state chief.
“A corruption pact was well established in early February 2014,” said the national financial prosecutor’s office. The accusations are based on conversations between Nicolas Sarkozy and Thierry Herzog intercepted on a telephone line open in the name of Paul Bismuth.
