The Italian ambassador to Kinshasa, Luca Attanasio, was killed by Balle on Monday, February 22, during an armed attack which targeted an unity convoy.
“Severely injured by bullets at the abdomen, Ambassador Luca Attanasio died of his injuries,” a high -ranking diplomatic source told AFP in Kinshasa. Two other people were also killed in the attack.
Through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italy has confirmed the information of the death of its ambassador, in office since October 2019.
