“Some rich countries are currently in the process of approaching manufacturers to ensure access to additional doses of vaccines, which has an effect on contracts with Covax,” said WHO Director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at a conference held yesterday, February 23.
“The number of doses allocated to Covax has been reduced because of this,” he added.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus accuses the rich countries of undermining the distribution system of anti-COVVIVS, COVAX, intended in particular in the disadvantaged country.
“Having money means nothing, if you can’t use it to buy vaccines,” he said. “We can only deliver vaccines to the member countries of Covax if the rich countries cooperate while respecting the contracts passed by Covax,” he insisted.
