Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy was found guilty of corruption and influence traffic in the case of “listening”. This Monday, March 1, 2021, he was sentenced to three years in prison, including a farm.
The case, which dates back to 2014, also concerns the former high magistrate Gilbert Azibert and the lawyer for the former president, Thierry Herzog.
The accusations are based on conversations between Sarkozy and Herzog intercepted on an open telephone line in the name of Paul Bismuth.
The former head of state was suspected of having tried to obtain confidential information from Gilbert Azibert concerning him in exchange for intervening in his favor for him to obtain a position in Monaco.
