According to data published Tuesday, March 2 by Unicef, more than 168 million children have been deprived of school for more than a year because of the coronavirus.

“More than 800 million students and students, more than half of the world’s workforce, are still faced with significant disruptions of their curriculum which range from the total closure of establishments in more than 31 countries at reduced or part-time hours in 48 others,” it said.

“The prolonged and repeated closures of educational establishments bring to pay a growing psychosocial tribute to students, increasing learning losses and the risk of abandonment, and affect the most vulnerable disproportionately. Complete school closures must therefore be a last recourse and their reopening safely a priority, “said Audrey Azoulay, director general of UNESCO.

The repercussions of this situation can be devastating on the learning and well-being of children, according to UNICEF.

In Tunisia, the schools were closed thinking more than two months during the first wave of the coronavirus, and for two weeks during the second wave.
