An earthquake of magnitude 6 started in the night of Wednesday March 17 to Thursday off the east of Algeria. The earthquake caused a panic movement but did not make any victims, according to several Algerian media.
“Civil protection reassures citizens that there are no losses in human lives or significant material losses,” said a press release from Algerian civil protection.
The earthquake occurred 20 kilometers northeast of the city of Béjaïa at 1 h 04 local Thursday (0:04 GMT), at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the USGS. Shortly after, two replicas of magnitude 5.2 and 4.7 succeeded him.
