The transmission of the COVVI-19 could become seasonal, according to a study by the OMM

In a study published Thursday, March 18, 2021, the World Meteorological Organization (OMM), an organization of the United Nations which is authoritative for questions relating to time, climate and water, believes that the transmission of COVVI-19 could become seasonal.

A team, bringing together 16 Earth, Medicine and Public Health Sciences specialists, were responsible by the OMM to study the influence of weather factors and air quality on the pandemic.

It warns that it is advisable not to be based on weather and climatic conditions, in particular the start of the increase in temperatures in the northern hemisphere in the spring, to soften the measures aimed at slowing down the spread of the virus.

It considers, in fact, that it is the measures taken by the public authorities (such as the compulsory port of the mask and the travel restrictions) rather than the weather factors that would have regulated the dynamics of the transmission of COVID-19 in 2020 and early 2021. Among the other relevant factors, we can cite changes in human behavior, the demography of the affected populations and, more recently, the mutations of the virus.

This report considers the possible seasonal aspect of the transmission of the COVVI-19. “Respiratory viral infections often have a certain form of seasonality, in particular the fall-winter peak for the flu and the coronaviruses responsible for colds in temperate climates. This suggested that COVVI-19, if it persisted for several years, would be a highly seasonal disease, “said the report of this study.
