The pandemic at a critical point, worries the WHO

For the second year, the Coronavirus crisis sinks more. Despite the start of vaccination campaigns worldwide, new peaks in contamination are observed in different countries.

The pandemic has reached a “critical” point with infections that grow “exponentially”, warned WHO. “We are currently at a critical point of the pandemic. The trajectory of this pandemic is expanding. It grows exponentially.

This is not the situation in which we want to find ourselves 16 months after the start of the pandemic, while we have effective control measures, “regretted Maria Van Kerkhove, the technical manager of the World Health Organization of the fight against COVVI-19.

With cases up 9% in a week and 5% more death over the same period worldwide, WHO calls for more vigilance and the recess of prevention provisions.

For the WHO boss, Tedros Ghebreyesus, these bad figures are to be put on account inconstant health measures in certain countries. And their non-compliance by part of the population.
