It is the most used vaccine in Tunisia. The boss of Pfizer said yesterday Thursday, April 15 that a third dose of vaccine would be “probably necessary” six months to a year after the first.
A reminder could also be administered each year, but “everything must be confirmed”, according to him.
“A likely hypothesis is that a third dose will probably be necessary, between six months and twelve months, and from there, there will be vaccination again each year, but all of this must be confirmed,” said Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer, in a television interview.
This information comes due to the uncertainty linked to variants, people who have received the Pfizer vaccine could therefore receive a third dose in a few months.
At this stage, this vaccine is the most efficient with an efficiency of 95 %. It is the most used in Tunisia thanks to the WHO Covax initiative.
The Minister of Health, Faouzi Mehdi announced during his hearing on Tuesday April 13, 2021 in the Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP), that a batch of 250 thousand doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be received on April 26 at first. He added that after these 250 thousand doses, Tunisia will receive each week, a batch of 80 thousand doses of anti-Cavid-19 vaccines.
