History and suspense end. It was finally in the Indian Ocean, near the Maldives, that the debris of the Chinese rocket ended their race, on the night of Saturday to Sunday.
“According to monitoring and analysis, at 10:24 am (02:24 GMT) on May 9, 2021, the first floor of the Longue-Marche 5B rocket entered the atmosphere,” the Chinese spatial engineering office said in a press release, providing the contact details of a point in the Indian Ocean near the Maldives. He said the majority of this segment has disintegrated and was destroyed when entering the atmosphere.
The Chinese authorities said that the uncontrolled return of the segment of the Long Marche-5b rocket, which had placed the first module of its space station on April 29, presented little risks.
The United States Minister of Defense, Lloyd Austin, had assured this week that his country had no intention of destroying the rocket. However, he suggested that its launch had not been planned with sufficient care by China.
