The World Health Organization (WHO) believes that real mortality linked to the coronavirus in the world would be two to three times higher than the official figures provided by the States.
In a report published this Friday, May 21, WHO estimates that the real mortality linked to the new coronavirus whose official assessment reports just over three million deaths in the world, would be two to three times higher.
According to Samira Asma, general manager in charge of data at WHO, “there are about six to eight million people who have already succumbed to COVID-19 or its collateral effects”.
WHO’s analysis joins and confirms other analyzes made public in recent weeks, like that of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) of the University of Washington, which had estimated the number of deaths at around 7.1 million, on May 13.
