What is the risk of Emmanuel Macron’s attacker?

The scene has gone around the world. Visiting Drôme, French President Emmanuel Macron, approached the crowd for a quick exchange. Except that at his surprise, the Head of State was attacked by a young man with whom he discussed. “Down with Macronie,” the citizen shouted before slapping Macron.

In the aftermath of the slap addressed to Emmanuel Macron, his attacker is still in police custody for “violence on a person depositary of the public authority”.

According to several French media, the concerned risks big, since it will be faced with a prison sentence. Indeed, the president of the union union of magistrates explained to Europe 1 that this person risks at least 3 years in prison and 45,000 euros fine.

“At least, he risks 3 years of imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros, because even if violence does not necessarily have physical consequences on the person of Emmanuel Macron, it is violence against a person depositary of public authority in the context of the exercise of his functions,” she explains.
