The Cameroonian Roger Milla, considered one of the best striker in African football, was honored, today by the president of FIFA Gianni Infantino, just before the match between Switzerland in Cameroon in the World Cup (1-0 for the Helvetians).
Nicknamed “the old lion” for its remarkable longevity at the highest level, Roger Milla has 102 selections to his credit for 36 goals scored with the “Indomitable Lions”.
He participated in three World Cups (1982, 1990 and 1994) and was distinguished in particular by scoring a goal against Russia (defeat 6-1) in 1994 in the United States at the age of 42 and 39 days.
Entering the match at halftime, he then became the oldest player in the history of the World Cup (he will be beaten by the Colombian Faryd Mondragon in 2014), and also the oldest of the scorers in the event.
