Senegal and the Netherlands qualified in the round of 16 of the 2012 World Cup by beating, respectively, Ecuador 2-1 and Qatar 2-0, today on the third and last day of the group stage (Gr. A).
Senegal, reigning African champion who was absolutely to win to qualify, has established himself thanks to a penalty from Ismaïla Sarr just before half-time (44 ‘), then by his captain Kalidou Koulibali (70’).
For their part, the Netherlands have snatched their ticket for the round of 16 by inflicting in Qatar its third defeat in three games thanks to two goals from Cody Gakpo (27 ‘) and Frenkie de Jong (49’).
The Netherlands will play their round of 16, next Saturday at 4:00 p.m. against the 2nd group B. Senegal, on the other hand, will face, next Sunday at 8:00 p.m., the 1st in group B.
